Gemma is a Scottish cellist, born in Edinburgh. In 2016, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma studying with Alice Neary at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and graduated with Distinction. She recently graduated with a Master of Arts (Music Performance) Distinction at the Royal Academy of Music in London. 

In 2017 Gemma won the Derek Simpson Bursary Award. She is also grateful for the generous donations made to her studies by the Robert Fleming Hannay Memorial Trust, The Gartmhor Trust, The Albert Cooper Memorial Trust, The MacGlashan Trust, The Emanuel Hurwitz Chamber Music Trust, The Cross Trust, The Winship Trust, Split Infinitive Foundation and the Denne Gilkes Memorial Award.
